VOLUME 1

volume 1With its "CREATIVE BOOK", CASALGRANDE PADANA sets out to offer a series of notes and discussions on practical applications using "GRANITOGRES". Our Book is intended, above all, to highlight the creative thrust this ceramic tile material can bring to any architectural space and make its own special contribution towards its design.

There is a two-fold spirit alive here: on the one hand, we have tried to publish a work that can stimulate, however modest its contribution, the field of research and the ideas of those who desire to work with a material such as GRANITOGRES with its extraordinary technical and functional performance. But, from another viewpoint, this CREATIVE BOOK has been published to generate the kind of rich exchange of ideas, opinions and other information that increasingly underscores relations between manufacturers of ceramic tiles and those who use them in their architectural creations. The goal, therefore, of these pages is to stimulate research, invent new and unusual combinations of shape and colour in word, trace out new and different itineraries of creative thought in architectural design. It might help to take a closer look at how the our CREATIVE BOOK has been broken down into chapters and sub-sections:after an Introduction, there is an interesting editorial by Aldo Colonetti on the topic of the complex relationships between ceramic tiles and their use within architectural space. Next comes a chapter on "Ceramic tiles and architecture" with a presentation of "Projects without frontiers", a photographic review of works from around the globe that have used GRANITOGRES.

A majority of these projects also took part in the two previous versions of the Grand Prix CASALGRANDE PADANA. Another chapter entitled "Creativity with ceramic tiles" includes a series of studies on composition. This research Project is subdivided into 5 sections: complete area compositions, centre decorations, borders (surrounds), pedestrian walk signs, high pressure abrasi¬ve jet cutting.

These study projects are designer layouts in the real sense of the expression that set out to highlight how floors within an architectural space can be planned and created not only based on functional and technical parameters but also with considerable aesthetic content and performance. In this sense, then, the floor of any space can be transformed into something that not only pleases the eye but is also completely in harmony with its overall use. Lastly, our CREATIVE BOOK offers a chapter on "The Material": a summary of our current GRANITOGRES catalogue.

This, briefly, is our CREATIVE BOOK. We hope that, through its wealth of information and many creative proposals, it can act as a positive stimulus towards your professional work.
